They are used when models are at different distances, when loading the full sized texture would give no benefit since you wouldn't see the detail anyway - but it would still be loading and therefore taking up resources. They are attached to the main texture when saving the texture file, and the game decides when to utilise the correct mipmap for the job.So, I imagine what this setting is doing is telling the game to use the best texture resolution that it can do for character models, rather than loading one of the lesser mipmaps.

This is why it can put a big strain on some people's computers - because every character on screen will have the full sized texture loaded into memory, rather than successively lower res ones depending on how far away a character is. In the last Beta, I was experiencing long load times for buildings, npc's, environmental objacts, etc. My PC isn't the greatest, but it's a newer gateway(i know) with 6 gigs of Ram and I had the in Game graphics settings as low as they would go. Though I also had a slow internet conn(dial-up, upgraded since). Could any of these INI changes affect help me out?

Or were my problems more stress test related and slow internet. I just really want to play this game as I have already got the Imp Ed. Lol, when I went into Cyrodiil finally I was getting powned by players I couldn't even see!.
